Gilman Town Hall

Cooter and The Coprolites

Download

The Gilman Town Hall in Issaquah dates to 1886, and has been variously used, including as an administrative building and the town jail. So too, this album is eclectic, with something for fans of Outlaw Country, Psychedelic Jams, Surf/Pop, and Lounge Jazz among others. Poignancy, whimsy, swagger, and a few things in between.

Goodbye Cougar Mountain

Cooter and The Coprolites

Download

My first album - a chronicle of my emotional and physical departure from my home on Cougar Mountain. That departure was an experience at times sad, at times absurd; devastating and liberating all at once. The songs reflect that ambiguity, even when we lay out and boogie!

The Internets say "anthem" means an uplifting song identified with a person, group or cause. "O River" is indeed about a particular person: my friend and Thomas S. Wootton classmate Neil Bernstein, lost in the Potomac River February 2023.

With great loss, one understandably seeks answers, and while one can (as the song does) ask The River what happened to Neil, so far its replies have been wordless. Which is to say these asks, like all prayers, are not necessarily unanswered.
